Exogenous application of salicylic acid to control coffee rust

چکیده

The exogenous application of salicylic acid can induce plant resistance against pathogens. However, little is known about the potential uses this bioregulator for controlling coffee diseases. In study, we assessed effect applying (SA – 150 mg L-1) on management rust (Hemileia vastatrix) in a 7-year-old plantation with low crop load (651.6 kg ha-1 2017). For comparison, plants were sprayed protectant fungicide (copper hydroxide CH) and standard fungicides (SF) used by local farmers (boscalid, pyraclostrobin + epoxiconazole, copper hydroxide). Non-treated included as negative control. Five monthly applications performed from November 2016 to March 2017. Rust incidence severity, defoliation, growth plagiotropic branches evaluated monthly. activity catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), superoxide dismutase (SOD) total proteins was one day after first, third, fifth product applications. Compared untreated plants, SA reduced severity 36.3 54.7%, while CH SF disease 31.8 54.6% 83.8 88%, respectively. defoliation 54.1%. increased concentration CAT, APX, SOD first application. not observed subsequent Foliar reduces load.

Effects of Exogenous Salicylic Acid Application on Growth, Metabolic Activities and Essential Oil Composition of Satureja khuzistanica Jamzad

Background: Satureja khuzistanica Jamzad, with the common Persian name “marzeh khuzestani”, is an endemic medicinal plant, distributed in the southwestern areas of Iran. Salicylic acid (SA) is a signaling molecule and a hormone-like substance that plays an important role in the plant physiological processes. Objective: This study was conducted to determine the influence of foliar SA applicatio...

Alleviation of Drought Stress Effects by Exogenous Application of Spermidine and Salicylic Acid on Hollyhock (Alcea rosea)

Drought is one of the most important environmental factors limiting the cultivation of ornamental plants in the green space. The effects of spermidine and salicylic acid on hollyhock (Alcea rosea L.)under drought stress were investigated. At first, the plants were sprayed with 3 doses of spermidine and 3 doses of salicylic acid (control, 100, 200 and 400 μM) for three consecut...

Alleviation of Osmotic Stress Effects by Exogenous Application of Salicylic or Abscisic Acid on Wheat Seedlings

The aim of the study was to assess the role of salicylic acid (SA) and abscisic acid (ABA) in osmotic stress tolerance of wheat seedlings. This was accomplished by determining the impact of the acids applied exogenously on seedlings grown under osmotic stress in hydroponics. The investigation was unique in its comprehensiveness, examining changes under osmotic stress and other conditions, and t...

Induced resistance to Helicoverpa armigera through exogenous application of jasmonic acid and salicylic acid in groundnut, Arachis hypogaea.

BACKGROUND Induced resistance to Helicoverpa armigera through exogenous application of jasmonic acid (JA) and salicylic acid (SA) was studied in groundnut genotypes (ICGV 86699, ICGV 86031, ICG 2271 and ICG 1697) with different levels of resistance to insects and the susceptible check JL 24 under greenhouse conditions. Activities of oxidative enzymes and the amounts of secondary metabolites and...

Exogenous Application of Salicylic Acid and Chlormequat Chloride Alleviates Negative Effects of Drought Stress in Wheat

Many plant growth regulators (PGRs) are known to alleviate the negative effects of drought stress in plants. However, limited research has been conducted to investigate the potential benefits of exogenous application of PGRs in wheat plants grown under drought stress. In the present study, effects of salicylic acid (SA) and chlormequat chloride (CCC) on drought-stress induced changes in morpho-...
